Alison Mac Cormaic

Mosaic artist - Educator

biography

Originally from Scotland, I now live near Loughrea in County Galway, Ireland. I work in the medium of mosaic and as an arts educator in schools and community settings. I have completed various public art commissions, primarily in mosaic. As a design historian I am interested in materials, design and why things look the way they do.

My practice is influenced by pattern, nature and the figure, with hand drawn qualities informing the finished works. My site specific commissions are inspired by local cultural heritage, centred in drawing from life and use colour combinations that sing.
