For my own website text:

. The diamond shape was tricky to work

with, and took extra time, but the shape did make for a really interesting geometric pattern. The diamonds were placed to

look like cubes with light and dark shading. I always aim for visually strong projects that can be accomplished by beginners and every body played a blinder.

Participants from all the community groups made strong contributions, with the rhythm of

laying down the mosaic tesserae bringing personality to the individual diamonds while adding to the whole.

This collaborative, intergenerational initiative was an outstanding success. Thanks to the Shorelines Arts Festival, this project demonstrates that they are anessential and transformative partner for our community. It provided a rich, structured environment that allowed our participants’ creativity to flourish. Beyond the beautiful art created, the project’s true value lay in the social and emotional outcomes: it significantly boosted social skills and communication among our attendees and other community groups.

Participating in the Festival gave our seniors a meaningful purpose and instilled a powerful sense of pride in their contribution.

We saw firsthand how the arts break down barriers, foster connection, and enrich the lives of our elderly citizens, making the

festival a vital community asset.––––––––––Youthreach Student:“During this project I made a small diamond shaped mosaic

piece with a bow shaped design on it. I then helped others at the daycare centre in Portumna to make their own pieces. I

enjoyed doing this and helping others. It was fun figuring out the methods in making my mosaic part look nice and finishing

the piece was rewarding”.------------------Natalja Natalja: “I am very happy that I am taking part in this wonderful project, I

always dreamed of learning mosaics. Thank you Alison Mac Cormaic”.--------------Jenny Wood-Sullivan: I’ve been learning so

much and enjoying the process. You are a great talent Alison Mac Cormaic Mosaics-------------------------Noelle Lynskey:
